have a visa to enter in Myanmar. You need to get your visa before coming in Myanmar or to prepare the documents and files you will need to get your visa on arrival. Anyway, you cannot just board a plane and think you will get a visa after your landing.

May-2022 :

It is now possible, again, to get an E-visa for Myanmar.

This is the only way to get a visa to come in Myanmar.

Type of visa: Tourist and Business.

Website :http://evisa.moip.gov.mm/. This is the ONLY official website to where you can get your E-visa.

For who: Everbody must apply an E-visa to enter in Myanmar (May 2022).

Entrance point : You can enter only in Myanmar at the airport of Yangon. There is no entrance in Myanmar by land or sea (May 2022)

The Myanmar authorities will implement 1st October 2019 a new procedure for the tourist visa on arrival.

Type of visa: Tourist and Business

Delay to get an E-visa: 3 working days (Myanmar time), excluding weekends and official Myanmar Public Holidays.

When applications starts: Processing starts only after your application is submitted AND online payment made.

Point of entry : Only the airport of Yangon.

Duration : 28 days for tourist, 70 days for business.

Photo ID : You need to upload one color photo ID taking during the last 3 months.

Passport validity : Your passport validity must have at least (6) months.

Evisa approval validity : 90 days from the issued date. If expired, entry will be denied.

Number of entry : Single.

Test PCR : You must have a PCR test (not antigene test) issued at most 72 hours before arrival to Myanmar.

Insurance : You must buy a Myanmar health insurance on the official Myanmar website otherwise you can not enter Myanmar (even if you already have a travel / health insurance). Official website : www.mminsurance.gov.mm

Restricted area : You are not allowed to travel to restricted areas without prior permission. If you travel with a local travel agent, you are certain that you will not go in a restricted area.

Keep in mind that the Immigration may refuse to deliver a visa at the airport. It is not because you can have it, that you will always have it... (especially if you are not really doing only tourism....) If for any reason the Immigration officer deny you entrance, you have to leave with the same flight.

This is the "normal" classic way to get your visa.
If you are a national from a country that cannot apply online E-visa, you must go to a Myanmar embassy to get your visa. It is the only way (there is always the visa on arrival procedure for tourist, but it is long and complicated procedure).

A special remark for Myanmar embassy in Bangkok: you can get a tourist (or business) visa at the Myanmar embassy in Bangkok, either the same day as the request, one day or two days after your request (if you do the same is almost double price than normal).
You need to arrive at 8H30 at the embassy (entrance 9h), with 2 photos ID and all necessary documents if you request a business visa.
You can collect your visa in the afternoon after 13H or 15H.

Visa request: Morning only from 9H to 12H (we advise you to arrive before 9H), you need two ID photographs. If you forget your photographs, you can usually make photos at the embassy.

Visa withdrawal: Afternoon from 13h to 16H30.

Public holidays:

Myanmar embassy in Bangkok is closed for Myanmar public holidays AND Thai public holidays.
