With the increase of arrival in tourist, hotels prices in Myanmar have increased a lot, especially in Yangon where hotels prices have more than triple within the last 2 years.
You should not compare with what you can get in Thailand or elsewhere in Asia, prices range is from 20-25 USD (very rare) to 625 USD or more (Governor's).
Most former 2-3 stars hotel (use to be the main stream of cheap hotels) are now in the range of 50 to 120 USD. You can still find some guest houses around 25-30 USD but for that price you get something that should be in Thailand at 10 USD.
It seems that it will stay like this for the next coming two years.
Have a look at the new modern (not charming) hotels, they are also expensive but at least you get something brand new....

Phoe Sein Hotel
Category : 2-3 stars
Brand new hotel located 500 m behind the Chatrium. It is a modern hotel, rooms are clean, well decorated, overall a very good feeling in the hotel.
Hotel is not down town but is it really a problem now in Yangon ? Quite a lot of restaurants near by.
A very good choice, and if you are arriving late in Yangon and got an early departure, definitively you should consider it.

Green Hill

small 4 stars hotel located near the Shwedagon pagoda (from the outside bar you have a nice view on the pagoda). Most of the rooms are facing the big swimming (it is more quiet), rooms are very well decorated, very well maintained. It is a very good 4 stars hotel. |

7 miles hotel

Brand new hotel, rooms are new, confortable, and for the deluxe quite spacious.
The 7 miles hotel is located near Pyay road (one of the main road of Yangon) on the way to the airport but it is 300 m so it is very quiet lane. It is a good hotel, but there is nothing special or restaurant near by.
It is a good hotel, and if you arrive late evening in Yangon and fly again very early morning to Bagan or Inle, it is a very good choice that makes sense (and if everything is full book in Yangon, is it still a good hotel, even if not charming). |

Summit Parkview hotel Category : 3 stars
A little
cold atmosphere (at first sight), very correct bedroom, big swimming pool, gym club. Prices hae increased a lot during the last 2 years, but it remains competitive even if overpriced (like all hotels now in Myanmar). You get a good localization very closed to Shwedagon pagoda, restaurants, confortable room (but really not charming). A good choice in this category.

Panorama hotel Category : 2 stars,
down town hotel
Room are ok, really very kind staff,
always full. Not very far from the train station and
from the Aung San market . A huge inscrease in price during the last 2 years, now with these prices and the competition, needs fast a renovation.
