Shwezigon pagoda at night - Bagan - Myanmar
The construction of the Shwezigon pagoda was begun under the reign of king Anawrahta and
finished under the reign of Kyanzittha (1084-1113). The pagoda seems have been constructed to enshrine one of the Buddha's teeth kept in Sri - Lanka at Kandy. Shwezigon is one of the oldest pagodas in the site of Bagan and it is especially pleasant to visit this place before just before sunset.
We advice you to go there in the evening. The best is to take a hotel not so far and to go there on foot. The parasol (the upper part) of Shwezigon is constituted of hundreds of bells that relaxing make sounds all the night. Serene ambiance guaranteed.
