| Choose your hotel in Yangon ? (Myanmar - Burma) |

You have a wide choice of hotel and guest house or even dormitory in Yangon. You can find everything from few dollars to the famous and chic Strand hotel (public price 400 USD), but you can also easily pay too much for a small hotel, or get a better deal for the same price.
In your are looking for a charming hotel, with a tropical colonial ambiance, the choice is limited in Yangon, and you will have to choose in 3stars, 4stars and luxury category. There is no small, cheap charming hotels.
Governor's residence : (ex pansea hotel). The colonial tropical house has you may imagine it. Super house in teak, huge quiet garden middle of Yangon. This is THE charming tropical hotel in Yangon. Rooms are correct (not very good, except the new renovated governor's house, the hotel has now a "peak season" price in Novembre that makes the rooms at a quite expensive price.
The Strand : famous hotel from the Bristish period, no garden, no swimming, prices are much reasonnable than previously, a very good hotel(as loong as garden and swimming are not important for you).
Savoy : A small 4 stars hotel located not so far from Shwedagon Pagoda. It does have the garden and charm of the Governor's (from outisde) but inside it is very good hotel, rooms are big, very well decorated, very good service and prices are very reasonnable. It is a very recommandable choice.
Kandawgyi : It is a 3 stars only, bigger than Strand, Pansea or Savoy. The hotel is located along the Kandawgyi lake and very close to the Shwedagon Pagoda. Garden and swimming pools give a very nice atmosphere, very fresh, rooms are good (nothing to compare with the other hotel) but quite cheap hotel.
Suites are big, good with a very reasonnable price.
A very good choice is this category.

Governor's Residence (ex Pansea hotel)
Category : Luxe
Probably the most charming hotel in Myanmar or at least in Yangon. 2 hectares garden in the best quarter, a beautiful colony style house, a very good French restaurant. Rooms (renovated, unfortunately not all) and service are perfect, if you can afford it, do it, or come at least drink a cup of tea of coffee during the sunset. Prices are up for 2009-2010 especially for "Peak season" in novembre, still a very charming place, start to be expensive anyway.

Strand hotel
Category : Luxuxry - charm - Mythic hotel (meber of the Leading Hotels of the World).
This is one of the most famous hotel is Asia, such as The Raffles in Singapore, the Oriental in Bagnkok and the Pennisula in Hong Kong. The hotel has been completely renovated and you will find again the old charm of the British period. Rooms are big and nicely decorated, the cuisine is really very very good, the spa very relaxing.
A new sale policy makes the hotel more competitive than it was, no more excuse to stay in this legendary hotel (member of the Leading Hotel of the World).

Mi Casa hôtel appartement
Category : 3 stars
Good quality hotel apartment (with kitchen). Nicel swimming
pool, gym club.
Rooms are big, a little far from the city center and no garden.
Long stay price are interesting or prices for familly appartment
are very good also ( 2 rooms with kitchen, lounge, 2 bathroom....).

Dusit Inya Lake Hôtel
Category : 4 stars
Located on the Inya lake,absolutely quiet, facing the sunset on the lake. Very very relaxing place. The architecture is little too "cold" (it is not at all a charming hotel) with a big swimming pool facing the lake, all services of a big hotel (gym, business center, internet). A little far from the city center. Prices are very reasonnable, the new management try to renovate and boost the hotel (it needs it).
